Terms of Service

Aura Business · Last updated: October 5, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Aura Business mobile application (the "App"), made by Aura Hub ("we", "us" or "our"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

Wherever you are, § 7 (Your statutory rights) and § 22 (Governing law) contain protections you keep regardless of anything else in this document.

1. About the App

Aura Business helps you keep the books of a small business on your phone: invoices, expenses, money received, bills you owe, customers and suppliers. Fern, the App's assistant, turns what you type or say into drafts for you to check and save, and answers questions about your books. The App is available on Android.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • The App is meant for running a business. You may use it for your own business or for a business you're authorised to keep books for.

Creating an account, or using the App, is your confirmation that you are 18 or over.

3. Accounts

You don't need an account to use the App: without one, your books stay on your phone. An account is needed for Pro, the encrypted copy, Fern's understanding online and WhatsApp.

  • Keep your password safe. You're responsible for activity under your account.
  • Give a valid email address you can receive mail at.
  • Don't share an account with people outside your business, or create accounts to get around limits.

4. Free and Pro

Free

  • Invoices in four styles, as a picture or PDF, shared through WhatsApp or any app
  • Expenses, money received, bills you owe, customers, suppliers and items
  • Fern by typing, voice notes and voice calls, with her free voice
  • Fern's understanding online when you're signed in, up to a monthly allowance shown in the App
  • The morning brief, reminders and notes
  • Bank alerts and bank statements as suggestions to review
  • Export to CSV and a backup copy of your books, at any time

Pro

Everything in Free, plus:

  • An encrypted copy of your books, kept in sync between your phones and restorable on a new one
  • Your own invoice designs
  • Fern's other voices
  • A much larger monthly allowance for Fern's understanding online
  • WhatsApp: send messages to Aura's WhatsApp number and they reach Fern (§ 13), when this feature is available

Subscriptions and billing

  • Pro is sold as a subscription through Google Play. Prices, and any free trial, are shown in the App before you confirm.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Manage or cancel in Google Play at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it doesn't shorten the time you've paid for.
  • Deleting your Aura Business account does not cancel your Google Play subscription. Cancel it in Google Play, or you'll keep being charged.
  • If we change a price, we'll tell you before it applies to you, and you may cancel.

When Pro ends

  • Your books on your phone are never deleted because Pro ended.
  • For 30 days, the App can still restore from your encrypted copy. It stops uploading changes until Pro is active again.
  • Pro features (invoice designs, the other voices, WhatsApp) stop working, and the online allowance returns to the free one.

5. What the App is, and isn't

  • Aura Business is a record-keeping tool, not an accountant. Nothing in the App is accounting, tax, legal or financial advice.
  • Net cash is the money you recorded coming in minus the money you recorded going out. It is not your bank balance.
  • Profit is an estimate from your records (sales less costs), not audited accounts.
  • You're responsible for checking your records, for the invoices you send, and for your tax returns and other obligations.
  • The App doesn't connect to your bank, process payments or verify that money arrived.

6. Refunds

  • Purchases through Google Play are refunded under Google's own policies, and refund requests go to Google. We can't refund a transaction we didn't process.
  • Except where § 7 or another law gives you a right to a refund, payments are non-refundable.

7. Your statutory rights

Nothing in these Terms takes away rights your own country's consumer law gives you. Where anything here conflicts with a right you can't lawfully give up, that right wins.

In particular, whatever § 6 says:

  • if what you bought is faulty or not as described, you're entitled to a remedy;
  • if we fail to supply something you paid for, you're entitled to your money back;
  • your rights against Google for a transaction it processed are unaffected.

Pro starts as soon as it's active on your account. By buying, you ask us to supply it straight away.

If you think something you bought was faulty or not what we described, email support@aurabusiness.app. We'd rather fix it than argue about it.

8. Your content, and your customers' details

  • Your books are yours. You own the records, pictures and messages you create in the App.
  • You give us a limited licence to store, process and transmit your content only to provide the App to you: to keep your encrypted copy, sync your phones and answer you through Fern. It ends when you delete the content or your account.
  • We will never use your books to train AI models, and we don't sell them.
  • Your customers' and suppliers' details (names, phone numbers, emails, addresses) are data you collect for your business. You're responsible for having a lawful reason to record them and for following the data protection law that applies to you. Where that data is in your encrypted copy or sent to Fern's understanding online, we handle it on your behalf, as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Fern

  • Fern drafts; you decide. Money records Fern prepares (invoices, payments, expenses, bills) are saved only when you tap Save. Check every draft: amounts, customers and dates.
  • Fern's notes and reminders save straight away, because they aren't money, and you can undo them.
  • Fern can be wrong. She can mishear, misunderstand or misread your books. Every figure in an answer she writes is checked on your phone against your books, but the reasoning around it is not, so check anything you rely on.
  • Fern's understanding online sends your messages, and with a question a summary of your books, to OpenAI or Google's Gemini API, as the Privacy Policy explains. You can switch it off in Fern's profile. It has a monthly allowance shown in the App; when it runs out, Fern keeps going with her on-phone understanding.
  • Fern's voice is generated on your phone. On some phones it's too slow for calls, and Fern writes her replies instead.

10. Invoices and sharing

  • You're responsible for what your invoices say, including prices, tax and payment details.
  • When you share an invoice, the App hands it to the app you choose (for example WhatsApp). Opening WhatsApp or the share sheet isn't proof that a customer received it.
  • The App doesn't collect payment from your customers.

11. Bank alerts and statements

  • Bank alerts (from your text messages, if you turn them on) and imported statements become suggestions. Nothing is added to your books until you choose Add or Link.
  • A text message isn't proof that money arrived. Alerts can be wrong, delayed or faked. Check your bank before you rely on one, especially before handing over goods.

12. The encrypted copy (Pro)

  • Your records and pictures are encrypted on your phone before upload. We hold a recovery key so you can get your books back on a new phone; that also means we could decrypt them. The Privacy Policy explains this plainly.
  • Keep a backup copy of your books (Settings) from time to time. We work hard to keep your copy safe, but sync is not a substitute for your own backups.
  • If two phones change the same record before they sync, the App keeps one version. Where a payment, expense or bill ended up with two different amounts, it keeps a note of the other amount in the record's history, so you can check it.

13. WhatsApp (Pro)

  • When available, you can link your WhatsApp number to your business. Messages you send from it to Aura's WhatsApp number reach Fern.
  • Fern does not reply to customers or send anything on WhatsApp for you.
  • Your use of WhatsApp is also governed by Meta's terms.
  • Only link a number you control. You can unlink it in the App at any time.

14. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the App for anything unlawful, including fraud, money laundering or issuing false invoices;
  • record people's personal data without a lawful reason;
  • try to reverse engineer the App, or get around subscription checks or usage limits;
  • use automated tools to scrape or overload our servers;
  • try to reach other people's data;
  • use Fern to harass anyone or to produce harmful or illegal content.

15. Availability

  • The App's core bookkeeping works offline. Accounts, Pro sync, Fern's understanding online and WhatsApp need the internet.
  • We aim for high availability but don't guarantee uninterrupted service, and we may pause it for maintenance.
  • To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for losses caused by service interruptions.

16. Termination

  • You can delete your account at any time in the App: ⋮ → Settings → Account & sync → Delete account. See the Data deletion page.
  • We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to put it right first.
  • When an account is deleted, its data on our servers is deleted as the Privacy Policy describes. The books on your phone stay there until you erase them or uninstall the App.

17. Reporting intellectual property infringement

If you believe content in the App infringes your rights, email support@aurabusiness.app with the subject IP Complaint, saying what the work is, where the infringing content is, your contact details, and that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorised. We'll review it and act where the complaint is well-founded.

18. Disclaimers

  • The App is provided "as is", except for warranties that can't be excluded by law. If you're a consumer, you keep every statutory guarantee your country gives you.
  • The App is not accounting, tax, legal or financial advice (§ 5).
  • AI-generated answers are suggestions, not professional advice.

19. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim arising from the App is limited to the greater of (a) what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) €50. We're not liable for lost profits, lost business or decisions you make based on figures in the App.

We don't exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't lawfully be excluded.

20. Severability, assignment, force majeure

  • If a provision is invalid, it's severed and the rest stays in force; where possible it's replaced by a valid one closest to its intent.
  • You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours to a successor in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, provided your rights aren't reduced, and we'll tell you.
  • Neither of us is liable for failures caused by things outside our reasonable control, including outages at our hosting, network or payment providers.
  • If we don't enforce a right, that isn't a waiver of it.

21. Entire agreement

These Terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the App, and replace any earlier version.

22. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria have jurisdiction.

Consumer carve-out. If you're a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, or of your right to bring proceedings in its courts.

23. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We'll tell you about material changes in the App or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can stop using the App and delete your account before they apply; where a change materially reduces what you've paid for, you can ask us for a pro-rated refund of the unused period.
