Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Aura Diary mobile application ("App") operated by Aura Hub ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

1. About the Service

Aura Diary is a personal journaling app with mood tracking, voice recording, AI-assisted writing, and optional encrypted cloud sync. The App is available on iOS, Android, and web.

2. Accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
  • You must provide a valid email address
  • One account per person — creating duplicate accounts is not permitted
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

3. Free and Pro Tiers

Free tier

  • Unlimited journal entries stored locally on your device
  • Audio recordings up to 5 minutes per entry
  • Text entries up to 5,000 characters
  • 7-day mood chart
  • 3 tags maximum
  • 2 themes
  • Ad-supported

Pro tier

  • All Free features, plus:
  • Encrypted cloud sync and cross-device access
  • Audio up to 30 minutes per entry
  • Text up to 50,000 characters per entry
  • Full mood analytics (30/90/365 day trends)
  • AI text polish, summaries, and weekly digests
  • Unlimited tags and all themes
  • Achievements, streak shields, and full gamification
  • No ads
  • Exports (PDF, Markdown, JSON)
  • Friends leaderboard and challenges

Subscriptions and billing

  • Pro is available as monthly, annual, or lifetime purchase
  • Subscriptions are billed through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), or via Paystack (web)
  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store / Play Store account settings
  • No refunds are provided except where required by law or platform policy

What happens when Pro lapses

  • Your data is never deleted when a subscription expires
  • Existing entries remain readable in full
  • New entries revert to free-tier limits (5,000 chars, 5-minute audio)
  • Cloud sync pauses; existing cloud data is preserved for 12 months
  • AI features, full analytics, and friends system become unavailable until resubscription

4. Your Content

  • You own your journal entries, audio recordings, and all content you create in the app
  • You grant us a limited licence to store, process, and transmit your content solely to provide the service
  • We do not claim ownership of your content and will never use it to train AI models
  • You are responsible for the content you create; do not use the app to store or transmit illegal content

5. AI Features (Pro)

  • AI features use Together AI's API to process your journal text
  • Text is sent to Together AI's servers for the duration of the API call only and is not retained
  • AI-generated content (polished text, summaries) is a suggestion — you decide whether to keep it
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy, quality, or appropriateness of AI output
  • AI features are subject to daily usage limits (currently 50 requests/day) which may change with notice

6. Cloud Storage (Pro)

  • Pro users receive 2 GB of cloud storage for audio files
  • We will warn you when you approach 80% of your storage limit
  • At 2.5 GB, new audio uploads are rejected until you free up space
  • You can delete audio from old entries to reclaim space
  • Free-tier users' data is stored locally only; no cloud storage is used

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the app for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the app
  • Use automated tools to scrape or abuse the API
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' data
  • Use the app to harass, threaten, or harm others
  • Circumvent subscription checks or paywall restrictions

8. Service Availability

  • We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service
  • We may perform maintenance that temporarily makes the service unavailable
  • We are not liable for losses resulting from service interruptions
  • The app works fully offline for core journaling features; cloud features require internet access

9. Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Account → Delete Account)
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms
  • On termination, your cloud data is permanently deleted within 30 days
  • Local data on your device is removed when you uninstall the app

10. Disclaimers

  • The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
  • We are not a medical or mental health service — the app is a personal journaling tool, not a substitute for professional support
  • AI-generated content is not medical, legal, or professional advice
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the app

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification or email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
